KADAFI'S FABULOUS HISTORY OF PRESS RELATED BIO'S Initally, the band formed out of the ashes THE PILL$, a punk band from Saugerties, NY that formed in March of 1995. The original lineup consisted of Aaron Magram on guitar, Michael Crowley on bass, Lucas Milligan on drums, and Ryan Capasso on vocals. The PILL$ reformed in early 1996 without Ryan and with Aaron assuming vocal duties. Since our music was slowly changing and we never really liked our name that much, we decided it would be best to change our name to KADAFI. We had also discovered a Boston band bearing the same name (without the ingenious use of the dollar sign, of course), and in no way did we want to interfere with the selling of their legendary pop-punk releases.... Here's our most recent "bio", written by our friend Robert Sachs, which appeared in a Pabst Blue Ribbon ad in the Onion: Kadafi’s sharp-edged melodies
are coruscating through New York with a solid vigor to set your pulse on
fire. From Tribeca to Tripoli, these Brooklyn rockers ignite rhythmic
flashbombs in all clubs and corners to move you like the G train. Dig it,
Boppers?
OBLIGATORY BIOGRAPHY (the
official "Sea of Mosh" press release)
A three
man rock and/or roll band originally from Saugerties, NY, Kadafi has been
rocking in the free world for ten years. Driven by your basic rock and/or
roll, rags-to-possible-riches pipe dream, Kadafi relocated to NYC five
years ago on a single-minded mission
to rock. They arrived equipped only with
their instruments and their mind-blowingly impressive good looks (see
attached photo), with no
elaborate stage show to hide behind (yet), and no blow jobs to pass out to
record company execs.
Basically: Kadafi
is to blowing record company execs as 7-UP is to caffeine: Never have and never
will. Unlike
7-UP however, Kadafi's members contain their fair share of caffeine and
other drugs ( i.e.
crack/cocaine).
The
music, you ask? It sounds exactly what a three man rock and/or roll band,
armed with only their instruments, good looks, and crack/cocaine should
sound like. Check out their second "official" album, Sea
Of Mosh
(insert
enclosed CD). Check out the Kadafi rock machine in full force on "Hard
Worker", a kick-ass track fueled by
catchy hooks, musical variation, and some downright
heavy shit .
However, because of Kadafi's penchant for musical variation, "Hard Worker"
really isn't decent represention of the band at all. If this paradox
intrigues you, check out out Kadafi's softer side on "I
Love You SO Much it Bleeds".
Curious? You should be. Go to http://www.warriors-of-rock.com to click on the hot and sexy photos of Michael Crowley (bass), Lucas Milligan (drums) and Aaron Magram (guitar/vocals). Only then can you can begin understanding the rock and/or roll extravaganza that is Kadafi. BLANKET OF STUPID PRESS RELEASE THE OFFICIAL KADAFI BIOGRAPHY (as seen by all those important music biz people) Sometime late at night, you wake up and realize that soon half of your life will be over. It is at times such as these that a thousand little demons enter your thoughts and infect you with self doubt, loathing, and the undeniable realization that soon you are going to have to take a long look in the mirror and decide just what it is you are looking for. You've tried sex, and what has that got you? Passionless physical encounters with drunken strangers, or failed romances held together too long because both of you are too afraid to be alone. You've tried drugs, and where has that led? Passionless physical encounters with doped up strangers and the endless cycle of use. A whirlwind of monotonous limbo that destroys the boundaries of days, hours, and minutes until all that is left is the “when” and “if” of the next fix. Its time to try rock and roll. KADAFI is, simply put, a rock and roll extravaganza. For the last two years, KADAFI has honed its musical skills, playing seedy dives in and around upstate New York. Now armed with an outstanding arsenal of songs, a lust for musical innovation, and a BRAND NEW album entitled “Blanket of Stupid”; KADAFI is upping the ante and taking the battle for straight up good music to NYC and beyond! KADAFI combines its strong punk roots with masterful pop craftsmanship. We add to this blend the ear-orgasmic acrobatics of guitar phenomenon Aaron Magram, the rhythmic foundation of twelve-year veteran drummer Lucas Milligan and bassist Mike Crowley. Is the result some crude mixture of various genres in a vain attempt to cash in on as many markets as possible? Hardly! KADAFI strives to take in all that is musical, and create a fusion of rock styles. Part of the reason for this fusion is due to the variations of musical backgrounds represented. Aaron’s songs combine his desire for a catchy, hook-laden melody with a progressive rock structure. Mike’s bass lines strive for the music to be at times simple and effective, and at other times complex. Lucas brings a strong set of beats into the mix that expands the musical territory into other genres such as punk, hip-hop and jazz. “Blanket of Stupid”, produced by Puge Ruhe, is a six-song representation of this rock fusion. Recorded live with little overdubbing and mixed quickly in just a few days, the songs are raw and give the listener a strong example of their energetic live show. Various musical moods are represented; ranging from the epic six-minute prog-meets-pop-meets-disco-meets-punk of “Road Beer” to the simple brooding uncertainties conveyed by “Tempered Thoughts”. So, stick that in your pipe and smoke it. |
